About
Christy Ann
Growing up in the foothills of the blue ridge mountains and West Virginia backroads, I have a love for all things God and all things Country.
My story with music doesn’t begin wrapped up in a pretty bow, fit into a box, or honestly make much sense…but I’ve learned that’s what God uses best.
Around 6 years old I began piano lessons as a form of therapy. Traditional counseling and therapy was not helping me process very difficult and very sudden divorce of my parents, and my mom stuck me in piano lessons with a friend of hers. That first lesson changed my life…and honestly probably saved it.
Since that day, God has used music in my life instrumentally ;)
Giving me a place to process without words, I often sat behind a piano and just played for hours. I began putting words to my thoughts later when my uncle, who was very young and very close to me, was murdered. I was around 12 and saw way too much…I had a lot of pent-up anger and brokenness. I noticed writing my thoughts in song form usually kept my hands from destructive things, so I began to do it more.
High school brought challenges and through it all, music was there…and so was worship. I connected with God in a way I didn’t know previously through worship, and my heart for it grew wide and fast. College came, and after dropping out from a music program once, I went to another…just to be told I have ‘no business singing’ and earning a failing grade in my worship class.
Once again, I was reminded God doesn’t work best with a perfect on paper story.
Since then I’ve been on quite a journey, but one thing is certain: music is a gift to me, and one that has kept me going. If I can be a small piece of that for someone else, I would. I promised God a long time ago I’d walk through the doors, if He opens them…so here I am doing just that.
I hope following my little story reminds you that He is doing a wonderful work in you, too. You’ll hear me say it any change I get: God is good, and you are loved!
